Career Highlights & Awards:

  • Undertook in-house design of complex propulsion systems for ships. Completed design of systems of over INR 100 Cr and proved them successfully at sea trials, in many ways for the first time in Indian Shipbuilding Industry.
  • Steered the first indigenous design and development of niche marine (mechanical) engineering systems for strategic platforms.
  • Undertook process, control and plant design of high performance and state of the art bio gas based renewable energy and bio fertilizer plant with zero effluent/net emission. Initiated EPC activities for several SPVs with budget of over US$ 12 Million each.
  • Steered augmentation of O&M facilities, indigenization and R&D efforts for ships, dockyards. Planned modernization, maintenance, and off-shore repair logistic support for ships.
  • Managed end to end refit and modernization projects (mechanical engineering) of 16 medium/small sized ships with a budget of approx. US$12 M each. Evolved repair logistic chains for cost effective, ‘on-time’ and reliable maintenance support for ships.  Recorded an average 15-20% improvement in performance of propulsion systems and in the availability of auxiliary machinery.
  • Led large teams of highly skilled and motivated personnel in the accomplishment of diverse missions as part of Naval operations on board five warships
  • Designed new courses on Ship Dynamics & stability, Steam Propulsion Technology, Heat engines, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering under PG programme and set up labs for reliability analysis and machinery condition monitoring. Redesigned course content for four subjects under UG programme keeping in line with advancements and industrial needs.
  • Participated in Programme restructuring in Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Pune on its elevation to Deemed University in the capacity of Member Secretary of Board of Studies and Member of PG Committee. As the Dy Management Representative, coordinated activities pertaining to certification of all the academic and non-academic processes under ISO 9000:2000 for the first time in the University.
  • Delivered guest lectures in marine engineering design, co-guided projects at IIT, Madras(Dept of Ocean Engg), coordinated internships
  • Conducted eight Continuing Education Programmes for practicing engineers over six years on subjects of prime interest.
  • Organized three national level conferences and participated in the organization of three international conferences.
  • Member, Editorial Board of International Journal of System Assurance and Engineering Management, Springer
  • Reviewer in two international journals
  • Received three Commendations by Heads of Indian Naval Commands for performance respectively as Manager (Engineering) at Naval Ship Repair Yard, Deputy Chief Engineer Officer on board a warship and Faculty, HoD and Training Officer in Naval College of Engineering.
  • Received Award by The Society for Reliability Engineering, Quality and Operations Management, Delhi University, for Research Leadership in “Reliability & Maintenance of Large Engineering Systems”
