For the first time in Northeast India, The CSIR- North East Institute of Science & Technology, Jorhat in collaboration with Royal Chemistry India Foundation's (part of Royal Society of Chemistry, UK) and The Assam Kaziranga University, Jorhat is organizing the residential Salters Camps for Class IX students from July 11 to July 13, 2016 at CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat and Kaziranga University, respectively. Altogether 60 Sixty students from 15 government schools/less privileged schools from around Jorhat will participate in this Camp. This will enable students to participate in the fun of Chemistry and motivate them to develop both awareness of and a long-term interest in the subject through an actionpacked programme. Students will have hands-on practical activities in Institute labs, exciting chemical demonstrations and the chance to meet like-minded students including a taste of university life staying in the Kaziranga University campus. The main highlight is that the Camp activities will be delivered in local language i.e. Assamese. The Salter's Camps will have the coordination and contribution of Mr Partha Paul, Scientist, NEIST and Dr Jayanta K Sarmah, Prof and Dean, School of Basic Sciences, Kaziranga University. This programme is intended to light a spark of interest and enthusiasm among young students of this region for the future study of chemistry.
