In line with Kaziranga University's commitment to imparting professional education and training courses in various fields of education for the well-being of society, a YES Skill Development Centre was launched at the KU campus, established in collaboration with SKF India.
This Centre was inaugurated by Mr. Manish Bhatnagar, MD SKF India and Dr. M.D Khetan, Chancellor, Kaziranga University, on 18th December 2018, in the presence of several esteemed dignitaries including Mr. Shrikant Savangikar, Director, SKF, Mr. Ram Kolavenu, COO, Sambhav Foundation, Mr. S.B Singh, National Sales Head (East) TVS Motors, Ms. Nilanjana Mukherjee, Key Accounts Manager Sambhav Foundation, Shri Basant Khetan, Pro-Chancellor, Kaziranga University, Dr. P.K Mishra, Vice Chancellor, Kaziranga University, Ms. Rainy Khetan, Director, Kaziranga University and Prof. Tarun Kumar, Registrar, Kaziranga University.
The Skill Development Centre will conduct various programmes providing necessary auto-technical skills and training to high-school drop-outs and other underprivileged youth groups from around the region, and enable them to venture out into skilled professions and technical jobs. Established at Kaziranga University, under SKF India Ltd.'s flagship Program YES (Youth Empowerment at SKF), this Skill Development Centre not only aims to provide job-oriented training to the youth, but also boost entrepreneurship in the region by providing seed money of Rs. 2 Lakhs to budding entrepreneurs, and helping them contribute towards the infrastructure development of the North East.
Kaziranga University, along with SKF India, will play a lead role in opening the floodgates, and giving a push to the much-needed entrepreneurship and employability in the region, marking the start of a new beginning for the underprivileged youth in North East India. As a part of the collaboration, Kaziranga University has also provided necessary infrastructure for the Skill Development Centre, such as training rooms and laboratories, along with the setting up of arrangements for a Business Incubation centre, set up along SKF guidelines.
Dr. M.D Khetan, at the launch, commented on the opportune time that this collaboration has been set up, opening up avenues not just for students from around the region, but also for those of underprivileged backgrounds. This collaboration is also a matter of pride for Kaziranga University, as it is another step towards achieving the furtherance of the vision of the organization - the empowerment of the youth of North East India by providing them the skills required to excel in their lives.
