Summary:

The students of School of Social Sciences organised a book donation camp where all the students, faculty and staff of the university were encouraged to donate books suitable for children. The idea was to collect the books, repair them if needed and sort them according to language and age appropriateness. The drive was able to collect 170+ books in Assamese, English and Hindi. The drive saw students and faculty from various departments of the university participating. A lot of reference and textbooks were collected apart from fiction, comics etc.

The collected books will be donated to the libraries of the nearby schools in the university’s adopted villages. The event emphasises on the power of education and sharing knowledge. It furthers the Assam Kaziranga University’s aim to serve as a knowledge hub in the area. The event also aimed to revive reading as a hobby as we all are beginning to become slaves of our mobile phones.
