Kaziranga University (KU) warmly welcomed its new batch of students through the Induction Program – Deeksharambh 2025, held on 18th and 19th August 2025. The event marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the students, filled with inspiration, motivation, and a strong vision for the future.
The induction program was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing knowledge and wisdom. Dr. Sumita Sarkar, registrar of KU, addressed the students, outlining the rules, regulations, and culture of the university. She assured the students of a supportive environment to help them grow academically and personally.
Vice Chancellor Mr. P. K. Mishra shared the vision of Kaziranga University – to provide quality education to students in Northeast India and to create responsible citizens who can make a meaningful difference in society.
Students were introduced to their schools, departments, and curriculum by their respective deans. This gave them clarity about their academic journey and the resources available at KU to enhance their learning experience.
The highlight of Deeksharambh 2025 was the presence of renowned guest speakers from diverse fields and industries. Their experiences, insights, and motivational words inspired the new students to dream big and work with dedication.
Among the distinguished guests, Dr. Namami Sharma, Assistant Professor at Tezpur University, shared her knowledge of social work and how students can build impactful careers. She said, “It was overwhelming to interact with such enthusiastic students. The faculty is warm and hospitable, and the students are highly participative.”
Dr. Venkatesan Selvaraj, Director of Tocklai Tea Research Institute, expressed his admiration for KU’s academic culture, saying he would love to return and engage with the students again.
Dr. Anjanjyoti Choudhury, Assamese cultural icon and medical professional, inspired students with his journey. At the same time, Dr. Mihir Kumar Goswami, Principal of Nagaon Medical College, shared valuable professional insights for those pursuing healthcare careers.
Adding to the inspiration, Prof. Ashok Kumar Sarkar, Former Director of BITS Pilani, praised KU’s environment: “Other than academics, there is a lot for students to learn and grow. The campus here is quite ideal for studies.” Prof. Gautam Baruah, Former Director of IIT Guwahati, also addressed the gathering, encouraging students to embrace innovation and critical thinking.
Sanjeev Sarma, Founder Director of Webx Technologies Pvt. Ltd., motivated students to embrace the world of technology disruption. He remarked, “Students are in good hands with such a qualified faculty and infrastructure. Webx would love to collaborate and hire these future heroes.”
From the corporate world, Mr. Suraj S Shetty from Kissht shared insights on building personal brands and standing out in the industry. He said, “Your LinkedIn is your storybook—make it strong, make it unique. That’s how you can shine in today’s corporate world.” Dr. Ajanta Borgohain R, Vice Chancellor of Assam Women’s University, also encouraged students to take bold steps in their academic and professional lives.
In the healthcare and nursing sector, Dr. Sourabh Borkotoki, Principal of Jorhat Medical College, and Dr. Anjali Hazarika, Secretary of the Trained Nurses’ Association of India, Assam, emphasized compassion, discipline, and service to humanity. Their words reminded students of the deeper values attached to their chosen professions.
Throughout the two-day induction program, students were inspired by the stories, experiences, and guidance of industry experts. From building careers in social work, engineering, computing, healthcare, business, and nursing to shaping their personal identity, the students received a strong message of dreaming big, staying focused, and contributing to society.
