A four days of faculty development program (FDP) was conducted in The Assam Kaziranga University campus from 17th to 20th January, 2023. The event was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with NIELT, Guwahati with an objective to deliver skill-based job-oriented courses for students of The Assam Kaziranga University (KU) in a few emerging areas of IT & Electronics free of cost. The training was conducted under the skilling drive “Capacity Building in IECT including training in Digital Skillsets and Current Industry Demanding Technologies for various sections of society in the NE States” sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India and under the special training drive of NIELIT to skill, up-skill and re-skill youths in the emerging technologies. Under this special capacity-building drive, NIELIT has conducted a course on AR/VR for one batch of student trainees on a pilot basis. The two esteemed resource persons for this workshop were Mr. Khagendra Sharma, Scientist D and Mr. Pawan Kumar Sharma from NIELT, Gangtok.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. T.V.V.L.N Rao, the Dean, School of Engineering and Technology. The students from CSE 6th and 4th semester attended the hands-on workshop on AR/VR in data science lab. The FDP was a part of departmental project by AICTE, "Augmentation of Multimedia lab with AR/VR facilities for engineering content creation" under the Modernization and Removal of Obsolescence Aspirational (MODROB- ASP) scheme. The program was coordinated by Mousoomi Bora, Head of the Department, Computer Science and Engineering and principal investigator of the MODROB project.
