A one-day faculty development program (FDP) was conducted in The Assam Kaziranga University campus on 10 th January, 2023. The event was conducted by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering with an objective to familiarise the faculties, research scholars and the students from various schools of the university about how to submit a project proposal successfully to different funding agencies like DST, AICTE etc. The program was inaugurated by the Vice chancellor of The Assam Kaziranga University. The welcome address was delivered by Mousoomi Bora, Head of the Computer Science & Engineering Department and hosted by Ms. Rhea Mathews, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering. The two esteemed speakers of the event were Dr. Binoy Kumar Saikia and Dr. Abhijit Kumar Borah.
Dr. Binoy Kumar Saikia is an Indian Chemist and a Principal Scientist at CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, the apex agency of the Government of India for scientific research, awarded him the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology, one of the highest Indian science awards, in 2021, for his contributions in the field of science and technology. Dr. Saikia is the recipient of "Assam Saurav" award, the 2nd Highest Civilian Award by the State Govt. of Assam. The award was declared by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam by a press conference on 04 January 2023. Dr. Binoy Kumar Saikia was felicitated by the Hon’ble VC of the university on his accomplishment of “Assam Saurav" award.
Dr. Abhijit Kumar Borah is a Research Engineer, Post Harvest Technology, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. Assam. He is responsible for execution of post-harvest processing-oriented research projects of Jorhat Centre of All India Coordinated Research Project (ICAR) on Post Harvest Technology viz. Establishment of Agro processing centres; Testing of prototype & commercial processing equipment; Process development etc.
After the completion of invited speaker’s talks, Dr. T.V.V.L.N Rao, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology concluded with his vote of thanks to the management of Assam Kaziranga University, esteemed speakers, deans of various schools, faculties and staff of the university for successfully conducting the FDP. The program was relevant on the awareness of writing proposal for project funding. The program was coordinated by Mousoomi Bora, Head of the Department, Computer Science and Engineering.
