The Research Wing of Assam Kaziranga University in collaboration with Numaligarh Refinery Limited, A government of India Enterprise and IQAC cell, KU organized a panel discussion on “Technological Initiatives of Numaligarh Refineries Ltd. (NRL) towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals” on 19th April, 2023 at the SEM Seminar Hall of the university from 10.00 am to 1.00pm. The panelist of the discussion included Mr. Sudip Pradhan, Independent Director, NRL, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India; Mr. Roopjyoti Hazarka, DGM, NRL Bio Refinery Project; Mr. Masood Iqbal, AM-Supply Chain & Logistics, NRL; Dr. Veera Talukdar, Registrar, The Assam Kaziranga University (KU); Dr. Rakesh Rai, Dean-School of Social Sciences, KU; Dr. Nabajyoti Saikia, Scientist & Associate Professor-School of Basic Sciences, KU. The discussion was moderated by Dr M.K.Loganathan, Director, IQAC cell and HOD Mechanical Engineering, KU. The discussion primarily focused on the ideas on India’s first 2G BioEthanol Production from bamboo based feedstock which is coming up in Assam, and also cited instances where students can be involved in the various sectors as interns and trained to lead advanced researches in collaboration with NRL. The program started with an introduction of the panelist by Dr Saurabhi Sarmah, Associate Professor, School of Social Sciences, The Assam Kaziranga University. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr Sailendra K Mahanta, Head Department of Pharmacy, KU. Following this, Dr Veera Talukdar, Registrar, The Assam Kaziranga University felicitated all the panelists in the presence of the research coordinators, IQAC cell members, faculty members and students of the university. The keynote address was of the program was delivered by Mr. Sudip Pradhan, Independent Director, NRL, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, where he had enlightened the audience about the project and mission on Technology of World’s first (Bamboo) 2G BioEthanol Production Unit coming up in Assam. The program continued with the informative and insightful presentations by Mr. Rupjyoti Hazarika, DGM-NRL Bio Refinery Project and Mr. Masood Iqbal, AM-Supply Chain & Logistics, NRL highlighting the overall insight of the upcoming project. A total of 150 plus students were present in the seminar hall along with faculty members from different departments of the university. The panel discussion convened by Dr. Sosanka Protim Sandilya, Associate Dean-R&D, came to a successful end with a vote of thanks offered by Dr Saurabhi Sarmah, Associate Professor, School of Social Sciences, The Assam Kaziranga University.
