Jorhat, February 8, 2025: The Assam Kaziranga University, one of Northeast India’s premier institutions, celebrated a significant milestone with its 10th convocation ceremony, held at its campus in Koraikhowa, Jorhat. A total of 1,138 graduates, including PhD scholars from the Class of 2024, received their degrees in a grand event that underscored the university’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic education.

The convocation was inaugurated by the Chancellor of the University, Shri Basant Khetan, in the presence of esteemed guests, faculty, and proud families. The event was graced by distinguished chief guests, including Mr. Ramakrishnan Mukundam, Managing Director & CEO of Tata Chemicals Limited, and Mr. Tapan Singhel, Managing Director & CEO of Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, both of whom delivered inspiring addresses to the graduating students.

Mr. Mukundam emphasized the transformative power of higher education, urging graduates to embrace challenges and seek opportunities in an evolving global landscape. “The world is full of challenges, and one must seek opportunities in this ever-evolving world,” he remarked, encouraging students to lead with integrity and vision.

Mr. Singhel, in his address, inspired students to aspire for greatness and pursue entrepreneurship. “Even a single-person company can become a unicorn,” he stated, highlighting the importance of problem-solving and innovative thinking in achieving success. He reiterated that the youth have the potential to drive meaningful change in the world.

The Chancellor, Shri Basant Khetan, and Pro-Chancellor, Ms. Rainy Khetan, extended their heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed guests and attendees for making the event memorable. The Vice Chancellor, Dr. P. K. Mishra, praised the graduating batch and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to fostering academic excellence in the region. He emphasized the institution’s role in advancing skill development, research, and quality education to empower the youth of Northeast India.

A highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of Honorary Doctorates upon two distinguished individuals. Mr. Tapan Singhel was recognized for his exceptional contributions to the insurance industry, marked by over three decades of leadership and customer-centric innovations. Dr. Sreedhara Panicker Somanath, former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), was honored in absentia for his visionary leadership in space exploration and launch vehicle design. Dr. Somanath’s contributions have played a pivotal role in advancing India’s space research and mentoring future generations of scientists and engineers.
