The two days of Student Development Program (SDP) has been conducted in The Assam Kaziranga University from 2nd August to 3rd August, 2023. The event was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in collaboration with NIELT, Guwahati with an objective of delivering skill-based job-oriented courses for the students in a few emerging areas of IT & Electronics free of cost. The training has been conducted under “Capacity Building in IECT including training in Digital Skillsets and Current Industry Demanding Technologies for various sections of society in the NE States” sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India and under the special training drive of NIELIT to skill, up-skill and re-skill youths in the emerging technologies.
Under this special capacity-building drive, NIELIT has conducted two courses- AI/ Machine Learning using Python and Cyber Security for the students from different schools of The Assam Kaziranga University on a pilot basis. The two esteemed resource persons for this workshop are Mr. Pankaj Shukla, Scientist E, Additional Director, NIELIT (Guwahati) and Mr. Mridul Pachani, NIELIT(Guwahati).
The program was inaugurated by Dr Kovuri Karthik, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology and coordinated by Mousoomi Bora, Department of CSE, SET.
Being two most demanding areas of science and technology, both the courses have gained attraction from students from diverse background of the university. To name a few, students from Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication, Electrical Engineering, BCA, Health sciences, pharmacy, Mathematics have participated the hands-on workshop on AI/ML using Python & Cyber Security.
The program was conducted in two High tech computer labs from the university. The two courses are of duration 30 hours and it would be offered in hybrid mode – 2 Days of physical hands-on session followed by 3 days of online sessions. The students would be evaluated by a proctored exam and would be conducted in the KU Campus under strict supervision of NIELIT team.
Number of students participated in AI/ML using Python was 90 and number of students participated in Cyber security was 40.
