Participation of the Department of Physiotherapy, Assam Kaziranga University, at the 3rd IAP Women Cell Conference and Physiomanthan (13th-14th September 2025) – Constitution Club of India, New Delhi
The Department of Physiotherapy, Assam Kaziranga University, proudly participated in the 3rd IAP Women Cell Conference and Physiomanthan, held on the 13th and 14th of September, 2025, at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. The event brought together over 2000 participants from across India, including esteemed institutions like Jammu Medical College, ITS College of Physiotherapy, Jamia Millia Islamia, Parul University, Dr. Ulhas Patil College of Physiotherapy, Ashok Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, Down Town University, and the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), among others.
Our department was represented by 47 students, who actively participated in a variety of academic and cultural activities, as well as the IAP Health Expo. The students showcased their diverse talents in solo and group performances, including:
Solo Performances: Physio Fit Challenge, solo dance, solo singing, and open mic.
Group Performances: Youth Parliament, fashion show, dance, and flash mob.
We are proud to share that our students achieved remarkable success, securing the 3rd prize in Youth Parliament and the 3rd prize in the fashion show, competing against a total of 276 group participants.
The conference featured prominent dignitaries who have made significant contributions to the field of physiotherapy and public health, including:
Dr. Ali Irani – Head of Department, Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre, Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai, and former physiotherapist for the Indian Cricket Team (1987–1997). A pioneer in sports physiotherapy, Dr. Irani continues to lead in both clinical and educational fields.
Dr. Sanjiv K. Jha – President Executive, Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP), and Professor and Principal at RDGMC and Vikram University, Ujjain. Dr. Jha is a leading figure in advancing physiotherapy education and practice.
Dr. Ruchi Varshney – National Head, IAP Women Cell (IAPWC) and Treasurer, IAP. Dr. Varshney plays a vital role in empowering female physiotherapists and promoting women's health initiatives nationwide.
Prof. Dr. Deepak Kumar Capri – Director, Capri Institute of Manual Therapy, Delhi. An expert in manual therapy and spinal rehabilitation, Dr. Capri is renowned for his contributions to education, research, and clinical practice.
Dr. C.K. Senthil Kumar – Joint Secretary (South Zone), IAP, and Director & CMER, North East Christian University. Dr. Kumar is a key figure in integrating advanced physiotherapy techniques into healthcare systems.
Dr. Karamo B. Touray – Sports physiotherapist from Gambia, Africa, working to enhance sports rehabilitation methods in India.
Dr. Kiran Bedi – Former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry (2016–2021) and renowned social activist. Dr. Bedi’s presence highlighted the interdisciplinary approach to women’s health.
Mr. Manoj Tiwari – Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha (North East Delhi). His participation emphasized the critical role of political engagement in supporting health initiatives.
Our department's stall at the IAP Health Expo attracted significant attention from prospective students and potential collaborators, exploring academic programs and partnership opportunities with Kaziranga University.
Additionally, I am deeply honored to have received the Women of Excellence Award for Academic Excellence, in recognition of my leadership and efforts in fostering positive social impact.
This conference was an invaluable platform for academic growth, professional networking, and showcasing the strengths of our institution on a national level. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported our participation in such a prestigious event, ensuring that our department’s contributions were both visible and impactful.
