Meri Mati Mera Desh

The event was organised under the theme of ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ by the NSS Cell of Assam Kaziranga University on 26/8/23. The event started with the introductory addresses by Dr. Golak B Patra, NSS Coordinator and Associate Dean of the School of Social Science and Dr. Rakesh Rai, Dean of the School of Social Science. They introduced the theme to the gathered students and highlighted the importance of reminiscing about the Indian Independence struggle at the present juncture; mentioned the brave act of the Veer Shahids of the land. They spoke about the learnings that we as a Nation need to carry forward in our day-to-day lives like dignity, harmony, respect towards other cultures and tolerance. Linking our past rich history to the future of the Nation, the students were then asked to introspect and write down their Vision for India 2047, in line with the goals given by our Honorable Prime Minister for the 100th year of Independence.
The students then participated in ‘Short Letter-Writing’ and ‘Sketch Competitions’ as parts of appreciation towards the freedom fighters and national and local heroes. The students paid tribute to Veers like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Gaidinliu, Shaheed Khudiram Bose, Captain Jintu Gogoi and Podumi Gajalu through their art and words. The winners and the runner-up of the competitions will be given E-certificates. The Programme has been concluded at 3.30 pm.
