On 24th February 2020, The Assam Kaziranga University and SEWA (Socio-Economic Cultural Educational Research & Development), an NGO based in Jorhat signed an MoU for a period of five years. The salient features of the MoU include the Assam Kaziranga University and SEWA joining hands to conduct action-based research on Environmental Conservation & Reducing Carbon Emission, Employment/Livelihood generation among rural poor through entrepreneurial endeavors, etc. One of the most significant features of the said MoU is that SEWA has agreed to employ students of Kaziranga University in their ongoing projects as paid interns and permanent employees as well based upon their performance in the field. Through this MoU, The Assam Kaziranga University and SEWA intend to collaborate in various future endeavors utilizing the academic and technical expertise of Kaziranga University and the expertise of SEWA with regard to social and community mobilisation. The MoU was signed in a formal ceremony held at Kaziranga University in the presence of Dr. Diganta Munshi (Registrar, Kaziranga University), Dr. Braja Sundar Mishra (Dean, School of Social Sciences, KU), Dr. P.G. Ramesh (Dean COE & Professor, School of Engineering & Technology, KU), Dr. Golak B. Patra (Assoc. Dean, School of Social Sciences, KU), Dr. Hriday R. Kalita (Assoc. Dean, School of Social Sciences, KU), Mr. Bibek Bora (Chairman, SEWA) and Mr. Gyandeep Boruah (Vice-chairman, SEWA).
